looploop vs Anki

Anki is the free, open-source flashcard app that serious learners swear by: a powerful spaced-repetition scheduler, endless customization and a big library of shared decks. The catch is time. Every card is yours to write and format. looploop generates the deck straight from your lecture slides, readings and recordings, quizzes you on it in rounds until you know every card, and adds summaries, practice exams and a tutor on top.

Why students choose looploop over Anki

Hours of card writing, done in minutes

Turning a 60-slide lecture into good cards takes an evening in Anki. In looploop you upload the slides and get a deck a few minutes later. You still review and edit it, but you start from a full deck instead of an empty one.

The whole group, one deck

In a looploop group, everyone studies from the same deck. Spot a wrong card? Fix it once and it is fixed for everyone, while each person keeps their own progress.

More than flashcards

Flashcards make facts stick. Exams also ask you to explain things. looploop adds summaries, study guides, practice exams with graded open questions and a tutor, all from the same material.

Nothing to set up

No add-ons, deck options or sync accounts to configure. Open a deck and start; your session is saved, so you continue where you stopped, on the web or in the app.

Common questions

If you mostly cram before exams and are tired of writing cards, yes. looploop generates cards from your lecture material, quizzes you in rounds until you know them, and lets your study group share the deck. If you rely on long-term spaced repetition, add-ons or custom note types, stay with Anki.

Not at the moment. looploop’s learning mode goes through a deck in rounds: you sort each card into “know” or “still learning”, and the next round asks only the cards you’re still learning, until you know them all. You can stop anytime and continue later.

Not yet. Your cards live in looploop, where your whole group can edit them and every member keeps their own progress.

The first month is free with every feature and no credit card. After that you pay monthly or per semester, because generating material and running the tutor costs us real AI compute.

The bottom line

Choose Anki if you love building your own cards and tuning every setting. Choose looploop if you would rather spend that time studying: decks, exams and a tutor generated from your lectures and shared with your group.
