Privacy policy

Last updated: 27 September 2026

This policy explains which personal data looploop processes when you use our website looploop.ch and our apps for iOS and Android, why we do it, and what rights you have. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The short version

Who is responsible

adaptive publishing gmbh, St. Gallerring 11, 4055 Basel, Switzerland, is responsible for processing your data. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@looploop.ch.

What data we process

Why we process it

We process your data to provide looploop to you: to run your account and groups, process your material, generate study content, answer your tutor questions, send login and notification emails and push notifications, and handle your subscription. The legal basis is the performance of our contract with you. We process technical data to keep the service secure and working (legitimate interest), and we keep billing records because the law requires it.

AI processing

To generate study content, transcribe recordings, read text from scanned PDFs and answer tutor questions, the relevant parts of your material and questions are sent to AI models. We use models from OpenAI and Anthropic as well as open-source models, accessed through OpenRouter.

Where your data is stored

Your account data, groups, uploaded material, generated material and conversations are stored on servers in the EU. Some service providers listed below (such as AI model providers) may process data outside Switzerland and the EU, for example in the USA. When they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Service providers

We work with a small number of providers who process data on our behalf and only as far as needed for their task:

We do not share or sell your data

We never sell your data and never share it with third parties for their own purposes, including advertising. Apart from the providers above, we only disclose data if we are legally required to. Inside looploop, the material and generated content in a group are visible to the members of that group.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are needed for looploop to work: one to keep you signed in and one to remember your language. We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies.

Mobile app permissions

The app asks for access only when you use the corresponding feature: the microphone to record lectures and dictate questions, the camera and photo library to attach images to tutor questions, and notifications to remind you of decks you started and finished uploads. You can revoke these permissions anytime in your device settings.

How long we keep data

We keep your data as long as your account exists. When you delete your account or ask us to, we delete your account, profile and the content you uploaded or generated within 30 days. Billing records are kept as long as the law requires (in Switzerland, 10 years). Server logs are kept only briefly.

Security

All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to your data is restricted to what is needed to operate looploop, and your material is only accessible to members of the groups it belongs to.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, receive it in a portable format, restrict or object to its processing and withdraw any consent you gave. To exercise these rights, write to privacy@looploop.ch. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or the authority in your EU country of residence.

Changes

We may update this policy when looploop changes. The current version is always available on this page. We will inform you of significant changes by email or in the app.
